Geologists Jesse Castro and Kristopher Carroll were presented with Level 1 STAR letters for their outstanding contributions to Ahtna, Incorporated’s SHEP.

On Monday, September 25, 2023, Kristopher and Jesse rushed to the aid of a fellow Ahtna teammate who had been involved in a head-on collision. Upon arriving at the scene of the accident, they evaluated their coworker for injuries, supported emergency personnel, notified appropriate supervisors, and kept in communication with Ahtna support staff. Kris then drove his colleague to urgent care and stayed until they had been medically evaluated and cleared. Jesse remained with the damaged vehicle and emergency services to ensure that all of his coworker’s belongings and company equipment had been safely removed from the scene and secured until they could be returned.

We appreciate the effort Jesse and Kristopher made toward our mission to provide a safe and healthy work environment for our employees and the clients we serve.
