Shareholder Professional Development Plan Spotlight: Tamra Jones’ Journey Towards Professional Growth

We are delighted to shine the spotlight on Tamra Jones, a dedicated member of the Ahtna team, whose journey exemplifies the spirit of commitment and continuous development.

Tamra began her journey with Ahtna in October 2022, initially joining as an on-call laborer. Since then, she has demonstrated remarkable dedication and enthusiasm in her role as a Deputy Trespass Enforcement Specialist. However, Tamra’s ambitions extend beyond her current position, as she actively participates in Ahtna’s Shareholder Professional Development Program.

Committed to her path within Ahtna, Tamra has embarked on a journey of academic pursuit, currently pursuing a master’s degree in Natural Resources and Environment at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. Her decision reflects her determination to enhance her knowledge and skills, aligning perfectly with her aspirations within the company.

Looking ahead to 2024, Tamra has set ambitious goals for herself. She aims to transition into the role of Land and Natural Resource Specialist, further immersing herself in projects within the Land Department.

Her focus includes acquiring additional skill sets, particularly in boat, ATV, and snow machine operations, essential for navigating and managing Ahtna-owned lands and adjacent territories.

Tamra’s dedication to her professional growth and her commitment to Ahtna’s mission are truly inspiring. Her proactive approach to learning and development serves as a testament to her resilience and determination. As Tamra continues to expand her expertise and contribute to the success of Ahtna, we eagerly anticipate witnessing the next chapter of her journey unfold. Joe Bovee, VP of the land Department said of Tamra, “Tamra is a natural-born leader and dedicated to exceptional detail in all of her work. Almost single-handedly, Tamra coordinated the Ahtna-Yakutat Cultural Exchange last summer and is currently our Project Lead on the Klutina River Environmental Study, all while being a full-time student and mother and building her own home.”

We applaud Tamra Jones for her unwavering dedication and wish her continued success in her pursuit of excellence within Ahtna.
